Old age...

I know that I am truly an adult. I find myself "googling" all sorts of things I never thought I'd care to know about. Case in point, this eve as I wait for H to go to sleep so I can watch Harry Potter, I'm reading about kitchen sinks.

Yep. I like em! A couple years back my aunt had her kitchen redone to be her dream kitchen. This was the time I had my condo, and I had dreams about my dream kitchen and dream house, so living through her wallet was tons of fun. Two things about her kitchen I love the most. (Ok we that really cool tall skinny drawer for cookie sheets is cool too.) The first thing is she had a whole wall be built in cabinets with glass doors. It has recessed lighting and displays my grandmothers glassware. I WANT IT. It made me look at grandma's glass and not think, "oh that's for old ladies." It made me think, "I want glass that's 80 years old." Secondly was her sink. Now it isn't an apron sink (which I want) but it is the single basin. I hate double sinks. Whenever I see someone with a single basin, (my cousin went and got one too) I actually want to stand at their sink and do dishes. I mean you can fit a whole pot in there.

Oh and instead of granite, which is nice, I would redo all my counter tops as butcher block. I have one on my island I have now, but I'd lacquer up the other... oh a girl can dream. Why you ask is the sudden redecorating? Well next week we are getting the house painted, so, out with the yellow undertones, and in with the gray. I was very close to having the hole filled in, but Adam seems to like it. Boo. Also, we are in the process of spray painting the door knobs.

What can I saw happy 30th birthday shannon!

Blech...

*there will be no capitalization in this post because using the shift key is too much*

i am beat, i feel terrible. i am well rested, i am fed. whats the deal? i know in my mind that i am supposed to be running again, but for the life of me the motivation is nowhere to be found. which angers me because after i have choosen not to run i feel my body yelling, "yes shannon run!" i need to buck up and just do it. i feel bad leaving the house with adam and the babes, i feel bad not playing with them or worse of all, there isn't much playing to be had here after dinner, its mostly, baths, pjs, stories and bed.

and whats the deal with milk supply? can a girl get a break? i do not want to move to formula, it costs too much money and honestly i can't take the smell. i am thinking i have an issue with smells. (baby food?)any pointers or am i doing the right thing? and i go out of town for work in june, how much milk am i allowed to carry on a plane?

oh, and don't get me started on those blogs i've been reading of mom's of 10 fixing furniture, with amazing decorating, paint colors, and only spending 10 bucks on groceries. i really don't get that. i want the greatroom painted this summer and the hole filled in and can't pick a color and these women pretty much make their own paint. that will for sure make me feel worse.

and does the oven need to start breaking now? i mean, "hello expensive appliance, we are on a law school budget."

ok, sorry this wasn't the most thrilling of posts but i know adam is sick of hearing my complaints. :)

The Safety Dance...

look REAL close
Ok, so I am all about some safety. In fact I even envision danger lurking around every corner, slick floor, wet road, and flurries. But recently safety has taken over a new meaning in my home. It has left me speechless, annoyed, and crazed!

Let me backtrack. So H is 2, but during my pregnancy with him a friend handed me a bag full of home safety items. Known to most moms as "child proofing." Since, we live on a budget, who am I to deny freebies? Then one day after my mom came over to help out around the house we spotted them... OUTLET PLUGS! BEFORE THE KID WAS BORN. When Adam, and I asked her about the plugs now in our wall, she simply stated that it was to be safe. I accused Laurel, (our dog) of putting her paws in the sockets. In hind sight, it was well worth the annoying factor of having our outlets plugged during pregnancy, and the additional 7 months it took H to crawl because we became pros at getting those things out.
BUT the other day when I returned home, from work I saw that the outlet plugs have a new meaning...a plug was in an outlet in "The Hole." Now you are probably wonder, "what's the hole?" Well first of all I HATE it. It is the hole above the fireplace that people put their TV in. Yes, a plug was in the hole. Apparently while Adam and I are out, H & B, climb up there and put their fingers, knives, rattles, paci's and broccoli in this socket.
Either that, or mom sees a plug I have ripped out of the wall and just looks for an unplugged socket. But hey, it's all in the name of safety.
